Hardened homes should not chase insurance. Insurance should chase them.
WUI Clear was built toward one destination: a marketplace where insurance carriers and brokers compete to write California's verified-hardened homes, instead of homeowners begging for quotes. We call it the WUI Clear Exchange, and every compliance record on this platform is a brick in it.
Why now
California has rebuilt the rules of this market. Under the state's insurance modernization, participating carriers take on real commitments to expand writing in wildfire-distressed communities, homes that meet the Safer from Wildfires standard are positioned first in line for the return to the standard market, and the FAIR Plan is charged by statute with moving policyholders back to admitted carriers. The missing piece has never been willingness. It is knowing, with evidence, which homes are the safe ones. That evidence layer is what WUI Clear builds every day.
What the Exchange will be
The system of record for wildfire resilience, opened to the market: an inventory of homes that are hardened and proven, independently verified against the full measure set, photo-documented, current, and consent-based. Carriers and brokers gain a way to find the risks they actually want, including a premium tier of homes protected by installed exterior suppression systems. Homeowners gain the thing this crisis has denied them: competition for their business. Every introduction happens with the homeowner's consent, through licensed professionals.
Where it stands
Delivered today: the verified compliance record and the standardized carrier submission package, in use across our launch counties. In development: the Exchange itself, including a component Wildfire Resilience Score (structure hardening, vegetation, ember resistance, water and suppression readiness, maintenance status) with the evidence behind every component, and API access for underwriting systems. We are onboarding a limited group of carriers, agents, and brokers as design partners ahead of launch.
